Pho Fundraiser: One day pop up restaurant serving Vietnamese dishes such as Pho, Bun Bo Hue, Banh Bao, and Cha Gio Thit Kho Fundraiser: Served Thit Kho over a bed of white rice Summer Car Wash: Washed cars to help fund member’s trips to UNAVSA Spring Roll and Green Waffle Fundraiser: Served spring rolls with peanut dipping sauce and freshly made pandan waffles Jar Wars: Fundraiser where people donated towards a jar of officers. The winning jar has to do dares at our holiday party.
How did your organization effectively raise awareness for CPP in the community?
At our each of our fundraising events listed above, we had a booth that aimed to educate guests about our CPP, the Children of Vietnam. Through our philanthropy board, guests can read about the philanthropy. They also have the chance of donate money through our Jar Wars event, where each jar contained a certain selection of officers. People can donate towards certain jars and the jar with the most money raised would determine the group of officers that had to do a list of dares at our holiday party. It was a fun way of raising money, yet educating the public about our CPP. During cultural shows, we had a philanthropy segment where we aimed to educate the audience by discussing the philanthropy. So their mission statement, purpose, and opportunities to donate were given.

How did your organization effectively raise awareness for CPP in the community?
We had approximately 26 members of UGA VSA attend UNAVSA-15, and they all took part in selecting this year’s philanthropy, Children of Vietnam. Following that, we strived to make sure our members were aware of what COV wanted to accomplish. By making sure our VSA is educated about COV, we can guarantee that we are able to educate others about it as well. Our main method of raising awareness for CPP in the community was through Night in Saigon. NIS 15 took place on January 12th, 2019. With almost 1000 people in the audience, we were able to spread the mission of COV to all of them through a five minute presentation and a page in the program booklet detailing their goals. We surpassed our sponsorship goal of $8500 ending up with over $11000. In addition, with our sold out show, we collected nearly $7000 in ticket sales, exceeding our goal of $6500. We ended up with a revenue of $19000 and a profit of $12000. We donated $6000 to COV in addition to a donation made to UVSASE.
